It comes to no surprise that the Chevy Corvette Stingray and
Silverado at Jim Butler Chevrolet would be making headlines. But at this Year’s
North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Chevy Corvette Stingray
and Silverado took home the titles of 2014 North American Car and Truck of the
Year being only the third time in 21 years that one automaker has taken both
awards.
Alan Batey, General
Motors senior vice president, Global Chevrolet stated, “Chevrolet is in the midst of the most
aggressive product transformation in the brand’s more than 100-year history.”
Forty-nine automotive journalists from the United States and
Canada asses each vehicle and vote based on innovation, design, safety,
handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar in order to determine
the North American Car and Truck of the year.
For the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray, this is not its first
award of the year. In fact it has received over 20 awards since its first debut
making it the industry’s most awarded car of the year. The 2014 Chevy Corvette
Stingray has a 6.2L V8 engine producing 455 horsepower and 460 Ib.-ft. of torque.
The 2014 Silverado impressed with its available 5.3L EcoTec3
V8 engine which is good for 355 horsepower. The new Silverado gets an EPA-
estimated 23 MPG highway which is the best fuel economy of any V8 pickup.
Besides putting up good numbers the 2014 Silverado received a 5-Star Overall
Vehicle Score for safety.
