Chevrolet SS Offers Underrated Gem for St. Louis Performance Car Fans

Well thought-out interior, V8 engine makes muscle car that adds sophistication to Chevy lineup

When one brings up Chevrolet and muscle cars and performance cars, it’s safe to say that one’s mind will immediately shift to a Camaro or Corvette — and rightly so. These two coupes have delighted Chevy fans for decades. However, one Chevy model manages to take the power of the 6.2-liter V8 and the class of an Impala to create the SS, an underestimated vehicle in Chevrolet’s garage.

Updates for the SS make it as close to a four-door Corvette as St. Louis Chevrolet fans will get. For a V8 enthusiast who loves a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive who still needs to drive the kids around, it doesn’t get much better than an SS.

Stylish interior

Chevrolet’s care and attention is evident once you’re behind the wheel of an SS. Premium materials and fully loaded equipment can be appreciated from any seat. The 4G LTE wifi connectivity is available on the SS, and the MyLink infotainment system offers functionality just like any other Chevrolet vehicle with it.

The Chevy SS offers more headroom and legroom than the competition’s performance sedans. A superb ride is comfortable thanks to an upgraded suspension set-up. Brembo brakes are standard. Chevrolet has even gone as far as to put the SS in the same class as the BMW 5 series, and Jim Butler Chevrolet would agree!

Powerful sedan

The V8 is certainly the biggest engine in a Chevrolet sedan to date, and those who own and drive the SS will understand. The SS harkens back to the days when the family sedan would have roaring V8s under the hood. The 6.2-liter V8 outputs 415 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque.

The SS makes the perfect vehicle choice for a performance enthusiast who also needs a sedan. Chevrolet’s 2015 SS makes a good compromise between cars found on the racetrack and those that are found on the grocery store parking lot. No matter why you buy an SS, one thing’s for sure — you’ll be driving one of the most sophisticated V8s around.

Chevy Corvette Trumps Porsche 911 in J.D. Power Satisfaction Survey

Chevrolet nameplate beats out perennial winner Porsche according to new car owners

After a decade-long drought, the Chevrolet Corvette won the Midsize Premium Sporty Car category topping the Porsche dynasty. More than 84,000 people total were surveyed this summer by J.D. Power, and when the results were tallied, the premium sports car crowd loved the Corvette.

Chevrolet went through years of fine-tuning and testing to make the seventh-generation Corvette what it is today. Aspects of the Corvette that propelled it past the 911 include the handling, acceleration, fuel economy and audio system. Believe it or not, storage was also a key factor.

“Interestingly, storage was also an advantage vs. the competition in this segment — with owners citing more trunk space,” J.D. Power said in its evaluation.

2016 Corvette: More than Just Numbers

St. Louis sport cars fans can find more than just power behind the wheel of a Corvette. Whether you choose the classic Stingray or the high-flying Corvette Z06, St. Louis Corvette owners know they’re getting more for the money at Jim Butler Chevrolet.

With a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, the 2016 Corvette Z06 delivers 650 horsepower and lb.-ft. of torque. On the track, the Z06 performed with a 0-to-60 time of 2.95 seconds. In fact, the Z06 share many components with the same C7.R racers Chevrolet uses. The Corvette Z06 has a carbon fiber hood and roof, hydroformed aluminum fram and adjustable rear spoiler wickerbill.

The 2016 Corvette Stingray is the next step in the line of the iconic American sports car. The V8 pounds out up to 460 horsepower, and fuel efficiency on the highway is an EPA-estimated 29 mpg, so you can go further in a Stingray! Available Competition Sport seats, the light and rigid frame and defiant design make the 2016 Stingray a sight to behold.
