Chevrolet had quite the whirlwind week in mid-November in terms of awards. According to Automotive News, Chevrolet took home 12 awards in the span of seven days, quite possibly the most ever in one week for the brand. These award winners can be found at or on their way to Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, another award-winner as the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri!
Camaro, Colorado Win Top Honors
Two of the most prized awards in the automotive industry were both won by two different Chevy vehicles with changes for the 2016 model year.
The most advanced Camaro ever, the 2016 Camaro, won Motor Trend’s 2016 Car of the Year. Chevy’s muscle car beat out models such as the BMW 7 series, Audi TT, Honda Civic and Mazda MX-5 Miata. Motor Trend summed up the Camaro’s impressive performance with “one of the finest driving vehicles in the world at any price.”
For Motor Trend’s 2016 Truck of the Year, it was a repeat for the Chevrolet Colorado. This compact truck added an all-new 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine to top the other five finalists. Towing, payload, handling, driving — it didn’t matter when it came to the 2016 Colorado. The engineers at Chevy almost managed to make the 2016 Colorado the most fuel-efficient pickup truck in America with up to 31 mpg on the highway.
2016 Volt Named Green Car of the Year, KBB winner
The 2016 Chevrolet Volt was given the honors of Green Car of the Year from Green Car Journal at the recent LA Auto Show. Judges were impressed with the 2016 Volt’s sleek design, energy-dense batteries, new electric motors and quicker acceleration. The new Volt beat out hybrid competition such as the Toyota Prius and Audi A3 E-Tron. This marks the second Green Car of the Year award for the Volt, winning previously in 2011.
The same features that impressed the Green Car Journal editors were found favorable with Kelley Blue Book (KBB). The 2016 Volt also won the KBB Best Buy Award for the Electric/Hybrid category.
Chevrolet mainstays get recognition
KBB wasn’t finished dishing out the hardware to Chevrolet just yet. The 2016 Tahoe topped the Full-Size SUV/Crossover segment for a second straight year; KBB cited its style, comfort and economy. The 2016 Corvette was named KBB’s 2016 Sports/Performance Car Best Buy Award Winner, and Chevy’s performance coupe also won the AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year beating out the Dodge Viper ACR and Jaguar F-Type R coupe among other big names.
The 2016 Impala wasn’t without its fair share. KBB was impressed by its technology, roominess and affordability. The full-size sedan won KBB’s 2016 Full-Size Car Best Buy award.
