Five Chevrolet Vehicles Lead Segments In 2016 J.D. Power IQS

If you're not familiar with the J.D. Power Initial Quality Awards, it is a study conducted every year which is based off of the responses of 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2016 model-year vehicles within the first 90 days of ownership. These results provide manufactures quality information that will help them identify any issues the model may have and to lead them to make any necessary improvements.

Chevrolet, for the fourth consecutive year, received more J.D. Power Initial Quality awards than any other brand with five vehicles that each led their segments of the study. "First, the study results will help attract new buyers to a Chevrolet, as J.D. Power data shows 'expected reliability' is customers' top purchase consideration," stated Alan Batey, Global Chevrolet president. "Second, the improved ownership experience of our new vehicles will help convert first-time Chevrolet buyers into repeat customers, as J.D. Power indicates customers who have a positive experience in the first 90 days of ownership are more likely to become repeat buyers for the brand."

The 2016 study indicates that Chevrolet is the fastest growing full-line brand in the automobile industry. The company has seen a 3% grow in retail sales due to their focus on the customer within the first five months of 2016.
The 2016 Chevrolet vehicles to receive rewards include:
  • Tahoe- led in the large SUV segment and ended up with results that were 19 points above the segment average
  • Equinox- led the compact SUV segment in a tie, ending up with results that were 15 points above average for that segment
  • Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD- both swept the full-size truck categories
  • Spark- led the city car segment and ended up with results that were 48 points above the segment average

Chevrolet Certified Service Tip - The Importance Of Rotating Your Tires

We all know that your tires go round and round, just like the wheels on the bus. What we forget is that your Chevrolet's tires also need the proper alignment and tire rotation intervals to improve their longevity.

The road ways in St. Louis are shaping up relatively well since road crews have now been able to repair the damages from winter. Pot holes, dips and torn up road ways can knock your alignment off causing your vehicle to drive seemingly normal but with just enough offset to cause abnormal wear on your tires. At Jim Butler Chevrolet, every visit to our Certified GM Service Center entails a free alignment check to keep you informed about your vehicle's alignment. We make this a best practice in an effort to increase the longevity of your vehicle's tires.

The 2017 Volt Pushes the Limits

Chevrolet met with Executive Chief Engineer Pamela Fletcher and Executive Director of Global Design John Cafaro to discuss the innovative engineering and design of the all-new 2017 Volt. Fletcher explains some of the break-throughs of the new model, saying that they’ve increased the vehicle’s range to 53 miles of pure electric range and added a Voltec propulsion system which optimizes each motors’ power and efficiency. The Volt, an electric vehicle with a gas generator, now has a range of 420 miles without having to stop and to plug it in. The new model weighs 230 pounds less than the original, and it is equipped with a new battery cell that delivers 20 percent more energy by volume.

In terms of exterior design, Cafaro says that they went with an exciting, sleek look for this four-door sedan. After 340 hours of testing and refining the new dynamic design in a wind tunnel, he calls the result “eco with attitude.” The interior has been updated with richer materials, and is equipped with Apple CarPlay TM3 capability, which allows access to select iPhone® apps on the Volt’s Chevrolet MyLink touch-screen. Additionally, only the 2017 model features Android Auto TM3 technology, allowing even more access to select phone apps.

Jim Butler Chevrolet expects the new model to push the limits even further than its predecessor. The 2017 Volt will be available at dealerships later this year.
