2024 Corvette Shines With “Season’s Speedings” on Car and Driver's 10Best List

The Chevy Corvette has graded the prominent Car and Driver's “10Best” list 25 times, while holding the “season’s greetings” bragging rights of the second all-time leading recipient of the coveted award. It has done so for many thrilling reasons here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis, with one of them being its ability to play incredibly hard at the track on weekends, and then cruise it casually into work all week. The 670-horsepower wild child in the form of the Z06 model supplied plenty of inspiration for the hybrid-powered, all-wheel drive E-Ray.

The Car and Driver team made a very educated claim when they realized that the E-Ray’s electrified front axle and mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 powertrain aren’t really as much about the premise of green energy as some diehards think. It operates in electric-only mode for very short bursts at lower speeds, and only if the driver has manually chosen to do so pre-ignition. Once the battery has run down or you are driving at more than 45 mph, EV mode is left “completely behind in the rearview.”

The 0-60 mph blast all goes down in just 2.5 seconds, rendering it the fastest Corvette that the Car and Driver team had ever tested. The entry-level Stingray is still notorious for turning heads, and you get the choice of a targa or convertible with the Z51 package’s performance upgrade. It offers bona fide All-American pavement-pounding enjoyment courtesy of summer tires, 5-hp increase, brake and suspension upgrades, and 60 mph sprinting capability at just under 3.0 seconds. Even at higher costs, there isn’t a production car in existence that achieves these stats.

Opting for the Magnetorheological dampers offers up an unparalleled ride quality, which proved to be useful for this testing crew on Michigan’s heavily scarred and weathered roads. Time after highly exciting time, the Corvette’s appetite and value proposition bring so many drivers back for seconds. While still originating in the Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant, we are now quite positive that the first hybrid Corvette will completely slay the festive duty of warming public perception to the idea of a fully electric supercar.

The E-Ray’s unique personality comes from the mix of a standard Stingray chassis and engine along with the Z06’s wider bodywork and smokin’ tire offerings. The very sweet Z06’s Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes also come standard, along with Chevy’s latest generation of magnetic ride control. Instead of using an electric motor to cut down on fuel use as traditional hybrids do, the E-Ray employs its motor to drastically increase performance. The 6.2-liter V8 Is still the “Ace in the hole” as far as most of the propulsion, and the car is not a plug-in.

Stealth mode does allow for the car to drive on battery power alone at speeds up to 45 mph, along with the gas engine engaging when you demand more torque than the electric motor can dish out on demand. The Motor Trend testing crew excitedly headed out to Pike’s Peak International Raceway with the E-Ray, where they eagerly spent time on the track’s infield road course. With the straight-line speed being downright amazing, cornering duty is where the E-ray really gets a chance to shine. After spending two days and hundreds of miles behind the wheel, they determined that this may be “the perfect real-world Corvette”, courtesy of grand-touring manners and blistering track performance.

The Chevrolet Colorado's Everyday Appeal Shines in MotorTrend's 2024 Truck of the Year Victory

A stellar build, ideal size, and already established reputation can do wonders for a truck in today’s incredibly competitive landscape. We can attest here at Jim Butler Chevy of Saint Louis that timing is everything, and the recent reintroduction of the Chevy Colorado exists as one of these precise and rewarding moments. For the 2015 model year, this midsize marvel outshined its aging competition so well that it immediately took home the Motor Trend “Golden Calipers” honor.

Recently the Motor Trend “Truck of the Year” competition was moved to Michigan, where there is now a greatly improved location to put trucks to the extreme off-road test. This paved the way for the ZR2 and Colorado to use their collective and burly skills to shine brightly against their sworn rivals. There is a longer-wheelbase frame sourced from the Silverado, along with a 2.7-liter turbo 4-cylinder and smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic. The suspension roars menacingly at the first berm as beefier and more off-road capable, and you’ll also be taking on a ridge-lined challenge near you with thoroughly updated safety gear.

Numerous experts have thoroughly approved of the overall design that has been toughened up both inside and outside, and the pickup box’s utility is greatly improved with standard gear such as corner bed steps and corner tie-downs. You’ll be the well-equipped life of the tailgating party or job site with a 400-Watt 120 Volt power outlet, along with the convenience of the 45-inch wide, 4-inch deep StowFlex stowage box in the tailgate. It provides optimum security for your goods when the gate is locked and is an excellent place to store tie-down ropes, tools, and other odds and ends that boost your ability to get the job done.

Things get a bit more astringent and detailed to evaluate with 1000 lbs situated in the bed, and the motor train crew also stuffed enough passengers on board to reach the official vehicle weight limit. The Colorado managed to tow a 7500 LB trailer during his runs amazingly well, displaying what an ideal model this is for spur-of-the-moment lake runs or entry-level site survey. Off-road mastery is a difficult challenge, as ruts, rocks, and ravines can wreak havoc on the frame and other valuables.

The knobby tires and locking front and rear differentials make for a finished package that is truly ready to take on the far corners of the earth, as well as the cool forestry roads that wind through Mark Twain Forest here in Missouri. There is so much useful traction and jounce absorption here that it takes getting into another pickup and doubling back on the same demanding terrain to fully realize how hardcore and well-equipped the new Colorado is. There’s even a new Off-Road performance app that displays valuable details such as overlanding guidance and altitude, along with transfer-case status and crucial wheel slip.

There are up to 10 available camera views to gauge how the ascending or traversing potential fares, which is more than you’ll find on any competing model. Here the Motor Trend crew admits that incoming models such as the Ford Ranger Raptor and Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro have an incredibly tall mountain to conquer if they're going to come close to topping the ZR2. Posting a thrilling existence as a “climb it on the first try” truck, the Colorado also benefits from the presence of the very precise and capable traction/stability control and hill descent control.

The screens onboard make the task of trailer attachment easier, and there are handy safety checklists to keep all the vitals organized and ready to go. The Multimatic spool-valve shocks “deliver off-road compliance second to none”, and the search functionality of Google Built-In on all models is a huge value. Its stellar capability across the range and range of offerings make the Colorado stand out enough to render the other available options drastically far behind and lacking!

The 2025 Chevy Suburban’s Exterior Upgrade Redefines High-Value Luxury

We have enjoyed numerous customers telling us here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis over the years what we have done right: when it comes to the best-selling large SUVs in the mix, sometimes “tweaking the ideal holiday recipe” just a bit helps things to remain appealing and fresh. The 2025 Suburban now brings updated looks, a brand-new cabin design, and an optional engine boasting more power. The new 3.0-liter turbo-diesel Duramax engine cranks out 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, which is a formidable upgrade from the outgoing powertrain.

The new Suburban should go on sale in the US late next year, with its sworn rivals in the form of the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon, along with the Jeep Wagoneer. The exterior makeover starts off with bolder signature lighting but holds onto the same C-shaped elements that are signature traits of the entire lineup. The more modern grille makes for an aggressive stance, and the Z71 models now have distinctive skid plates and a high-approach end, with the High Country’s finish offering luxury and athletic touches.

The Premier and High-Country models now have joined the club of family haulers with super cool animations: there are very cool cartoonish additives now for the swipe turn signals along with the welcome and walk-away intervals. There are new 24-inch wheel designs available for the RST and High-Country trims, with base-model Suburban's equipped with 18-inch items. Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic join the lineup as new exterior paint colors, and the Suburban’s official curb weight has been confirmed at 5,680 pounds for the 5.3-liter model with rear-wheel drive and will increase up to 6,053 lbs when equipped with all-wheel drive and the diesel powertrain.

The larger V8 is now an available option on the Z71, RST, and Premier models, and the Z71 model comes fully prepped for any type of terrain as 4WD only. The second-generation 3.0-liter turbo-diesel Duramax is the same as you’ll find aptly powering the Silverado 1500, and cranks out 10% more horsepower and 7.6% increase in torque over the outgoing model. The improvements in output were made possibly by a completely retuned turbo compressor and reworked temperature control features. Many amazing advancements have been made in sound absorption for the ride, and an updated air induction system provides the ultimate balance of a hushed ride along with segment-leading performance.

Air Ride Adaptive Suspension is now available on the High Country and Z71, along with the RST trim for the first time. This handles the full-time and very precise job of automatically lowering ride height when optimally cruising, boosting vehicle efficiency. Magnetic ride control is now standard on the Premier and High Country, enjoying its boost of holiday merriment and helping with reducing unwanted vibration in the cabin. Now standard across the range is an 11-inch digital driver information display, and an XXL 17.7-inch infotainment screen.

The cabin is now much more spacious and sweeping lines up front create an open sense where things had resulted in being a bit crowded in the outgoing model. Inside you’ll now find Piano Blac and Galvano chrome, while the upper-level trims boast an abundance of soft-touch materials. The Suburban also now comes with a connected camera network of monitoring devices, allowing you to record events such as police stops or sudden road mishaps.

There’s also a new interior Motion Detection feature available, along with an Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, which is bound to help in any tight retail holiday shopping scenario. SuperCruise hands-free driving will also be available on the Suburban, and the Premier trim comes with a new Jet Black/Sky Cool Gray theme. The Max Trailering Package has very cool new and load-setup-worthy features such as Forward Path Indication, Boat Ramp Assist, and the very useful Mobile Trailering App Load Rating info.

Deck-The-Halls Dominator & Wallet-Friendly Warrior: The 2024 Chevy Trailblazer Unveiled

Roomy seating, abundant cargo space, and light off-road capability are traits that customers are as keen on as a side of delicious Cranberry sauce with turkey this fall here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis! For a very snazzy subcompact, the Chevy Trailblazer boasts a quite roomy interior and a pumpkin-pie-worthy allocation of modern style. Front-wheel-drive models use a continuously variable automatic transmission, while all-wheel-drive models feature the 1.3-liter 3-cylinder paired with a 9-speed automatic.

The 2024 model boasts a mid-cycle update that features a completely revised front end, new wheel designs, and two new exterior hues to choose from. A high-definition rear camera and cruise control now come standard across the lineup, along with some excellent new features inside to make the holiday drive worthy enough to double-check your wish list! Despite its compact appearance, the cabin has a quite generous amount of passenger room. The rear seat is more than enough space for last-minute gift-wrapping duty, with over 38 inches of headroom and 39 inches of legroom.

The entry-level Trailblazer LS is prepped for the light-spotting and yuletide of the coming season with manually adjustable front seats, and the Convenience package offers an 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar. The Active and RS trims now gain heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a very convenient rear seat folding center armrest. The need for large screens has been very pressing as of late since drivers have taken to expecting current models’ interiors to rival what they would enjoy at home. There’s also a standard customizable 8-inch digital instrument cluster and push-button start, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

All trims will be a roving and sweet productivity hub, thanks to Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and there’s a poised-and-ready pair of USB chargers right up front. Nicely colored trim and chrome accents add a great-looking aesthetic to higher trim levels, and the dash design brings attention to the modern digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen. Stepping up to the Activ and RS trims offer faux leather to spruce things up to a higher-end aesthetic. The RS also adds red stitched accents and a flashier flat-bottom steering wheel.

If full-on escaping the coming winter landscape happens to be your thing, you can even accommodate long items such as a surfboard after the front passenger seat is folded flat. The Edmunds.com auto review team claimed that their ideal and holiday-ready version of the Trailblazer is the LT trim, which adds tinted windows, keyless entry, and heated side mirrors. They recommended the all-wheel-drive version since it is paired with the more capable powertrain. One satisfied owner right here in Missouri claimed that she has been delighted with her “fuel efficient, peppy vehicle that handles like a fun baby Camaro!”

The Carbuzz.com staff gave high marks for the Trailblazer’s interior, with its new dashboard design to accommodate the larger new screens. Thanks to a 7.5-inch ground clearance’s greater height than a regular sedan, the step-in provides simple access to the cabin. This review team also was very adamant about the legroom that is much more spacious than astute rivals such as the VW Taos and Honda HR-V. A seven-speaker Bose audio system is optional on the top two trims, while the base-level LS still features power accessories, keyless entry, a compass display, cruise control, an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, and a flat-folding front passenger seat.

Breaking Down the Versatile Brilliance of the 2023 Chevy Tahoe

We can confirm here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis that vehicles that can truly “do everything” have been an American tradition since the days of the all-out muscle car wars! This was when automakers began putting their beefiest V8s in everyday sedans, meaning you could engage as a daily driver all week, then strut your stuff at stoplights on the weekends. Today the SUV is much like the sedan in the 1950’s age of prosperity, as it is the main and accessible form of transportation for Americans.

With the Tahoe’s seven or 8-passenger seating options and very capable V8, you can now take the entire family along with a few close friends, on a journey with top-notch style and comfort. The 2023 Tahoe is part of the 5th generation of the nameplate that began in 2021, with deep roots that span nearly a century to 1935. The RST Performance Edition primes you for the pavement with more than a dozen powertrain, chassis and suspension upgrades. The current 6.2-liter V8 offers up to 433 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque, along with a very awesome cat-back performance exhaust and Chevy Performance air intake system.

The setup is also graced with some new very special wheels and tires, a high-performance suspension, and very heavy-duty brakes along with enhanced safety features. Just as baseball games and backyard barbecues are, the Tahoe’s cabin is quite monstrous, and the seats are BarcaLounger soft to provide the best in comfort for all body types. The 2023 Tahoe comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a very cool 15-inch diagonal multicolor head-up display, and a 10.2-inch infotainment display with Google directly built in.

One very pleasant detail for those who love everything about the era that will soon be bygone is the excellent-sounding 6.2-liter V8 immediately after it is fired up. Even with the noticeable bulk of the Tahoe, this segment-leading engine does an excellent job of making things feel properly jumpy on acceleration. The 10-speed automatic transmission hums along nicely at 1,300 rpm if the throttle isn’t floored with ample elbow grease! As the Tahoe’s relatives in the form of the GMC Yukon and Suburban have been best sellers, many St Louis drivers recognize that they are wildly popular for good reason.

The U.S.News auto review team was impressed with the 2023 Tahoe’s “massive cargo area, loads of passenger space, and excellent fuel economy.” Whether you are tasked with hauling the entire soccer team or a week's worth of adventure camping gear, there's all sorts of excellent space for passengers and needed cargo. The Tahoe’s sense of practicality and long list of excellent features should please most drivers who are looking for an excellent SUV to complete the festive holiday hauls of the season.

This review team recommended the upgrade to the LT trim, allowing you to take full advantage of the V8 and instrument cluster screens. Leather upholstery adorns the LT’s interior, and this trim is also equipped with wireless device charging and the incredibly useful hands-free power liftgate. The optional Luxury Package adds heated second-row outboard seats, power-folding second and third-row seats, a surround-view camera system, and rear pedestrian detection. The Motor Trend team enthusiastically claimed that with its aggressive approach and departure angles, the 2023 Tahoe sports extreme versatility that is ideal for your next wilderness family adventure!

Z51 Power Unleashed: The 2024 Chevy Corvette's Reign as the Quintessential Sports Car

As we think about traits that result in the “Quintessential American sports car” here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis, the Corvette comes to mind for so many track-capable reasons! Fiercely positioned to take on the likes of the Porsche 911, 718, and Nissan GT-R, it is known for being blisteringly dominating on the track, yet comfortable enough to fulfill duties as a daily driver. The Corvette boasts its first hybrid model this year, which is also the first in the line with all-wheel drive.

This marvelous “E-Ray” delivers performance that rivals the current king of the lineup in the form of the Z06 and uses the Stingray’s 495-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 paired with a 160-horsepower electric motor up front. This results in a thoroughly enjoyable and staggering 655 horsepower, along with the sweet stance helped along by the 3.6-inch wider body and wider tires that come with it. This year’s model adds automatic emergency braking, active lane control, rear parking sensors, and a rear camera mirror, along with blind-spot monitors.

One glance sweeps over you nicely with the exotic mid-engine supercar persona, and we love how there are noticeable cues visible from the Corvette’s past. With a pointed nose that is distinctive and very sleek, this model looks consistently ready to pounce and superbly elegant. Inside are just two seats fully decked out in leather, a control panel that runs directly through the cockpit, and an arsenal of excellent-looking and premium materials. The mid-engine design leaves the Corvette with quite a bit more storage and the benefit of hefty yet precise V8 power.

The Base Stingray makes 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque and cranks out 495 horsepower after the addition of the optional performance exhaust. An 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle handles shift duty for all versions, and the Z06 scorches brilliantly out of the gates with a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank V8. Drivers enjoy much sharper responses enabled by firmer suspension settings, a wide body, and wide and mark-meeting very sticky tires. Situating the weight directly over the rear wheels renders the C8 Corvette much quicker than the generation before it, with 0-60 mph times that are between 2.9-2.5 seconds.

Expert drivers worldwide have been thrilled with the handling quality this arrangement provides, with very communicative steering, agile motion, legendary braking, and notorious grip even if choosing to roll on the available all-season tires. Base-level Stingrays are now turned into track cars after the addition of the Z51 Performance Package, with the Z06 and E-Ray coming gift-wrapped with track-ready chops directly out of the box. Standard equipment on the Stingray includes eight-way power adjustable sport seats, an 8.0-inch infotainment touch screen, a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, satellite radio, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system.

Proudly made by the hard-working men and women at the Bowling Green, KY plant, this Corvette has thoroughly won over many industry leaders and experts with its very purpose-built cockpit and supercar exterior. The nose has plenty of very efficient cooling ducts, and we love the pointed look that the Corvette has enjoyed for so many years. Carrying 60% of its weight in the rear, the Corvette’s wide rear tires and the well-tuned front equips it with phenomenal balance and grippy cornering. The new Vette’s wide cabin angles the controls toward the driver and provides a very forward view: enjoying a masterpiece such as this is going to take much more everyday effort than just an initial heart-pounding test drive!

2024 Chevy Blazer EV Clinches Motor Trend SUV of the Year

The Chevy Blazer EV was formally introduced to us here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis for the 2024 model year, offering drivers a sporty and practical model powered by innovative electric battery technology. Awards and accolades are always thrilling for us here at Jim Butler, as they give us many opportunities to show customers how stellar Chevy vehicles rank when “competing in the open wild!” As the bloggers on duty at GM Authority reported this week, the Chevy Blazer EV has now been recognized as the 2024 Motor Trend SUV of the Year.

These esteemed awards are based on six very detailed categories, including advancement in design, efficiency, engineering excellence, performance of intended function, safety, and practical value. When they first encountered the striking outside, Motor Trend gave the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV high marks for a “fiery and exciting design with unique swagger”, while also loving the crossover’s long wheelbase and newly shorter overhangs. Keeping up with the national trend that shows no sign of receding, there’s also an XL-infotainment screen that pleases anyone who is rightfully tech-obsessed.

The GM Ultium architecture offers extreme dependability and longevity, along with an excellent variety of layouts and configurations. Motor Trend used the Blazer EV RS AWD model, which is currently rated at 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque. The EPA-estimated range per charge is 279 miles, with an efficiency rating of 103 mpge in the city, 88 mpge on the highway, and 96 mpge combined. While this particular crew of test drive experts were spending time with the new Blazer, they nailed down a range of 239 miles, at an average speed of 70 mph.

The 2024 Chevy Blazer EV fulfills a much-needed performance for today’s market demands by being easy to drive, easy to live with, and easy to use. Don’t think for a minute that this is an ordinary and always-predictable drive, as the SS trim boosts things up an aggressive notch while offering 557 horsepower, and hits 60 mph in less than 4 seconds flat! The RS trim is where the Blazer’s maximum driving range is unlocked, along with a few other sporty and stylish extras.

You’ll also get to enjoy very cool 21-inch wheels, a power operated hands-free rear lift gate, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated flat-bottom steering wheel, and a sweet illuminated Chevy bow tie logo. The RS is offered in both front and rear all-wheel drive configurations and boasts the highest driving range at 320 miles post-charge. You’ll be able to easily locate the nearest locations to power back up quickly with the public charging locator on the very handy MyChevrolet app. Right when you see the Blazer rolling up on you, the very cool thin LED lighting on the front grille sets it apart.

The very intelligent new Chevy Blazer EV comes with an abundance of cutting-edge and life-saving technology. For the most inconvenience directly from the driver's seat, a hands-free smart system and wireless charging are available, as well as advanced safety features such as automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking and following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and forward collision assist along with Intellibeam auto high beams. The Blazer EV can charge up to 190 kW, which allows for a total of 78 miles of range added in a very snappy 10 minutes!

A Deep Dive into Chevy's Duramax 3.0-Liter Diesel

We have always kept close track of the overwhelming love customers have for the Duramax diesel here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis! Hefty, mean, yet always accommodating, the Duramax engines were first introduced in 2001 to offer firm competition against RAM and Ford’s powertrains at the time. Since then, the Duramax namesake has resided at the top of the chain as far as truck lovers are concerned, being associated with engines that boast segment-leading towing capacity and torque.

A mainstay that was frequently found under the hoods of many HD Chevy trucks, the Duramax has improved quite a bit over time and has undergone continuous and very thorough innovation. It fulfills a very awesome and durable role in the Silverado 1500, having come quite a long way since its early 6.6-liter LB7 days. The pro-grade auto bloggers at Top Speed cranked out a feature last week about the Duramax’s claim to fame, and the many intricacies that subsequently render it so very awesome. They began with the important notion that diesel engines are often mistaken for brutish piston-pounders that wreak havoc on the environment.

The Duramax of today is a thoroughly perfected masterpiece derived from precision engineering, and design solutions that enthusiastically reach for esteemed engine excellence. The most widely known Duramax is the one that is used in HD trucks such as the Silverado 2500 or 3500 HD, boasting its rugged 6.6-liter Duramax Diesel V8. For the 2023 model year, things just got that much better, kicking it up an aggressive notch with an extra 28 horsepower and 35 lb-ft of torque.

The 3.0-liter Duramax is an excellent option for anyone after the torque-rich and high-range capable diesel engine in the very functional shell of a light truck. When the smaller-size Duramax was first created, the engineers hard at work were given a well-fitted blank canvas to dream up the best engine possible. The task was approached with various new technologies, the grade of which had never been seen in a diesel engine application. The addition of a start/stop feature to improve fuel efficiency was received and implemented quite well, as these trucks that the small Duramax must move are quite large.

The 3.0-liter Duramax shows up at the power-rich party with the added convenience of an exhaust brake, which allows for engine compression to slow the vehicle down. This wholeheartedly prevents excessive mechanical braking, which is one of the most common ways to end up in a serious overheating dilemma. This particular engine is always paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission, which delivers very consistent and smooth acceleration. It is also known for its surprisingly quiet operation, which is a unique and satisfying feat for any Diesel engine.

The 3.0-liter LZ0 Duramax has excellent fuel efficiency, showing up all decked out and ready to rumble with a 13,000-lb towing capacity. The ingenious inline-six configuration helps phase out vibrations, while the variable geometry turbocharger always “throws the diesel-driven smackdown” with abundant power in its accessible RMP range. A half-ton diesel pickup equipped with a very reliable and seamless engine is an ideal choice for drivers who need a dependable work truck but don't necessarily have hauling demands of over 15,000 pounds. TopSpeed finalized their feature by heartily claiming that this is the “last great diesel engine available for the mass consumer market in the U.S.!”

2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray Displays “Four-Season Supercar” Domination, Amazingly Integrated Performance

Some of the most famous thinkers in the world have noted that Earth’s inhabitants need to “evolve or die”, which sounds a bit dystopian to us here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis! However, as we have had our eyes on the market for the last few years, many automotive “species” have had to branch off in many ways to guarantee future survival. The C8 generation became legendary instantly by placing the engine directly behind the seats and was reborn as a memorable and powerful player in the supercar game.

The C8 Z06’s naturally aspirated flat-plane crank V8 performs as if it “escaped from a Maranello dyno cell”, properly setting the stage for the coming of the efficient yet fire-breathing 2024 E-Ray. Many could be potentially skeptical about its hybrid powertrain, but the Car and Driver crew got down to business this past week and checked out its full-blown potential on the challenging roads of the Colorado mountains. It came prepped with all-wheel drive, and standard all-season tires that help with its firmly announced new clout of a “four-season supercar.”

The first pro-grade conclusion laid out here was that there is not a lick of performance given up in the name of saving fuel, as the E-Ray is situated in the “beast-mode” performance grade. The E-Ray differs a bit from the Ferrari 296GTB and the McLaren Artura, as it is not a plug-in. Its makeup is made possible with the base and very fresh ingredients of the Stingray’s 495-horsepower pushrod 6.2-liter V8, 8-speed dual-clutch automatic, and performance exhaust. On permanent loaner from the Z06 is a wider body, optional carbon-ceramic brakes, and XXL 275/30ZR-20 front tires and 345/24ZR-21 rears.

The hybrid system gets the careening party started with a compact electric motor, which drives the front wheels that reside directly in front of the passenger cell. There’s a 1.2-kWh battery stuffed directly into the tunnel between cabin occupants, along with futuristic coolers to control battery temperature and the software to efficiently get the job done. The hybrid system is not shy in the least, stepping out on the mound confidently and fattening the power output by 160 horsepower, also twisting up 125 lb-ft of torque. The E-Ray is also the very first Vette with all-wheel drive, as well as the first that pairs stealth-level carbon-ceramic brakes with all-season tires.

When Missouri temperatures soon head in the same direction as the leaves now falling from trees, the all-season tires offer much more grip than the E-Ray’s optional Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires. The Car and Driver crew’s test car was fitted with summer Michelins, and the suspension was pre-dialed for spot-on track alignment. Things then heated up at a Guinness-grade pitch as the car nailed down the quickest 0-60 time the publication had ever recorded for a Corvette, at just 2.5 seconds.

The E-Ray comes to the table quite hungrily with more than just the performance traits of the Z06, as it offers up over-the-road sophistication and a quality of refinement that was such a massive draw for the C8 with the Z51 treatment. When this very seasoned crew took the E-Ray through twisty and challenging roads, it answered in primo fashion to the call of duty with “far more grip than anyone can sanely exploit.” Finally getting some laps in at Pikes Peak International’s “Roval”, this is where the E-Ray proved its penchant for kicking a hole in the sky and pushing limits. The hybrid system’s Stealth mode enables you to forgo the V8’s startup growl, although we will always prefer its wake-up call!

Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss to Step in + Move Mountains on Mid-Range Terms

More and more drivers are yearning for all-out adventure here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis, where the off-road vehicle market has grown by leaps and bounds over the last several years. The ZR2 trim offers rip-roaring performance and trail-handling chops and provides excellent capability without having to skimp on any of its tremendous towing abilities. There’s been something missing for quite some time within the mid-range lineup, much like the many spooky seasonal decorations displayed without a properly carved pumpkin here in so many Missouri neighborhoods at night!

There are now official plans to launch a mid-range Trail Boss variant for the Silverado line, fit with the task of giving customers a more affordable entry into the thrilling off-road segment. It has the equipment to be more capable than the Z71 package, with a bit less extreme of a bite than the ZR2. The MuscleCarsandTrucks blog checked out the action last week at the ZR2 Performance drive in California, where it was officially announced that there will soon be a Silverado HD Trail Boss to slot in directly below the ZR2 trim and Z71.

If it happens to stew and savagely simmer like the formula for the Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, it will feature the Z71’s off-road suspension and sweet factory lift with beefy tires meant for rugged terrain. It’s pretty safe to assume after conferring with several sources that customers will have two engine options available to them in either the 6.6-liter gasoline V8, cranking out 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. Who couldn’t have their piston-pounding and diesel-cravin’ heartstrings tugged on by the very awesome 6.6-liter Duramax? It fearlessly doles out 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque.

It promises to be very exciting to see Chevrolet add another off-road trim option for customers, brushing up on the offerings that the Z71 provides, but still a bit less expensive than the ZR2. At the heart of the matter and strategy is the competition that this will offer against the dedicated folks across the fence at Ford, and we are confident this will translate to a win for us and this trail-busting machine that will truly be something to be proud of. The folks with the constant rig-lover’s news scoop over at GM Authority claimed that the 2025 Chevy Silverado HD Trail Boss will be available exclusively in a Crew Cab body style with a single rear-wheel layout.

Impressive Multimatic DSSV dampers, true front and locking rear differentials, and an awesome new interior were what allowed the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 to scoop up Four Wheeler’s “Four Wheeler’s Pickup Truck of the Year” award. Fully sweeping each of the judging categories, it remained steady as it was just as comfortable blasting across desert sand at high speed as it was crawling down a trail littered with rocks. The Trail Boss will no doubt exude the same qualities, being capable of segment-leading performance on terrain such as sand, rocky trails, loose-surface trails, rutted backroads, snow, ice, mud, and loose-dirt hill climbs.

It feels like the Chevy Silverado has been around since the celebratory dawn of trucks. The Silverado actually began as a trim level for the 1975 Chevy C/K pickup and Suburban, finalizing its existence as its own model in 1999. With all the current excitement and news regarding hybrids, we have one trivial fact for you here today: the 2004 Chevy Silverado was the first hybrid vehicle of any kind! We are confident that the Trail Boss will be the perfectly situated and hard-working addition to the team: durability, efficiency, and tremendous torque appropriately fit the bill for today’s dedicated truck lover.
