Equinox Gets Facelift for ’16 at Chicago Auto Show

After record January, Chevrolet’s compact SUV sees changes in premium lighting, chrome

The Chevrolet Equinox has garnered some attention lately as it hit record sales for the month of January and received a facelift for the newest model at the Chicago Auto Show. Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis has your opportunity to drive away with a new Equinox, a popular compact SUV.

Customers purchased almost 20,000 Equinoxes last month which was a 34-percent increase from January 2014. It was the best January for the Equinox in its 10-plus year history, and the Equinox was only outsold by the Chevrolet Silverado.

For the past five years, the compact SUVs available at Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis have broken sales records in the U.S. as the compact SUV segment continues to grow. In fact, compact SUVs overtook midsize cars last year to become the automotive industry’s largest segment.

Looking toward the model’s future, Chevrolet introduced its redesigned Equinox for 2016 at the Chicago Auto Show last week. Highlights of the updates include new styling with premium accents, new wheel designs and new available safety features as well as a large color touchscreen radio. Entry-level models will have a standard rear-vision camera. The four streamlined trims are the L, LS, LT and LTZ.

Features for the exterior include a new front fascia and chrome-accented dual-port grille design, premium projector-beam headlamps on all models helps make the Equinox more visible at night, new fog lamps on LTZ, new 17-inch aluminum wheels on LT and new 18-inch aluminum wheels on LTZ and new chrome exhaust outlets on V6 models.

Safety and technology changes include but are not limited to available side blind zone alert and rear cross traffic alert safety features on LT and LTZ, standard seven-inch-diagonal color touch radio (including Bluetooth phone connectivity) and rear-vision camera on L and LS models as well as new universal tablet holders available through dealers from Chevrolet Accessories. Under the hood, the Ecotec 2.4-liter engine comes standard, and the LT and LTZ models have a 3.6-L V6 available.
