During the 2018 model year, Chevy's truck business reaches a very epic milestone: it turns 100 years old. Just a few states southwest of us, the Lone Star State gala will kick off during the New Year at the Texas State Fair, smack dab in the middle of the very loyal truck-owners country. The 2018 Silverado 1500 and Colorado Centennial editions will be some of the main features of the show, available for all who labor the land around the clock, and those who want a trusty and true off-road plaything. Available as off-road-oriented Z71 models, a few of their standout features will be their Centennial Blue paint, and heritage-inspired bow-tie emblems adorning their front doors, tailgates, and grilles.
Ringed in chrome with placid dark blue centers in the place where one usually finds Chevy gold, the unique bow tie also portrays the word Chevrolet in a chrome script that dates back to some of the brand's earliest models. The 1918 One-Ton is one of those models, and it was inspired by vehicles used in plants to move parts and pieces from place to place. This now very dated vehicle was, in essence, a rolling chassis with an open cab, very open frame, and inline 4-cylinder engine. At the time, this was a very revolutionary means of transporting goods or people, and an iconic symbol of what the Industrial Revolution was able to produce for useful and durable vehicles.
Other additions For the 4-wheel drive, crew-cab-only Silverado version are 22-inch painted alloy wheels with chrome inserts, the LTZ trim level of equipment, and a chrome bowtie on the steering wheel. The mid-size Colorado Centennial is available as either a crew cab or extended cab, with optional four-wheel or rear-wheel drive. 18-inch wheels, a body-color rear bumper and grille surround, as well as chrome mirror caps and door handles, are further dressings that are present to set this exclusive edition aside from the usual. The 2018 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 sports a 5.3-liter V-8, and 8-speed automatic transmission.
The extended-cab 2018 Colorado Z71 4 x 2 is properly equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-four and six-speed automatic, and also has the ability to step up to a crew-cab body, four-wheel drive, and the larger 3.6-liter V-6, along with the turbo-diesel 2.8-liter inline-four. All of us right here at Jim Butler have agreed wholeheartedly that 100 years is a big deal, and are also spreading the good word about other birth-day treats for those who are faithful to this legendary truck manufacturer.
For those of you who can't resist a day off spent with baited lure and cold ones, Centennial-edition runs of Phoenix bass boats have been introduced in commemoration, to match the pickups.
