Recently chosen by Car and Driver Magazine as one of the top six road courses in the nation, it is the scene where many drivers attempt to set records, and really push their vehicles hard.

Last year, the Ford GT set a record for a production lap here, and all of us at Jim Butler are proud to say that our 2019 Corvette ZR1 completed the task of leaving that record in the dust! Driver Jim Mero was taking the 755-hp 6.2-liter supercharged V8 out for a very Earthshaking spin, and clocked a time of 2:37.25 for the 4.1-mile circuit. Beating out the GT's time by a razor-sharp 1.37 seconds, this is an achievement that everyone here at Jim Butler was very excited for. Both the Ford and the Chevy were cars of showroom spec grade, with no extra enhancements for performance.

The ZR1 did have the addition of the ZTK Performance Package, which offers summer-only tires, a tune for the suspension that is focused on track ability, and a downforce-producing aero kit. There are some rumors floating around that GM is hard at work developing another supercar, which may have the duty of ultimately replacing the 'Vette. Even if this does happen to be true, Road and Track were bowled over enough by the ZR1's performance that they heralded it as “the fastest street car GM has ever made”, and the absolute “True King of the Hill”. One characteristic that is notable to anyone during their first glace is the two gaping openings in front of the cover, that both work overtime to extrude the hot air which seeps from the engine bay.

This is also the very first dual-injection system put into use by GM, which definitely paves the way for production of 755 horsepower, 715 lb-ft of torque. Both versions of the ZR1's available rear wings are bolted down firmly to the chassis, bearing a bit of resemblance to the racing edition Corvette C7R. The claimed top speed is around 201 miles per hour in this quick pony, and the 355 section rear tires provide a sense of stability for handling on any type of track.

The ZR1 is also the car with the most carbon fiber inside of any GM vehicle, and any experienced driver will immediately notice the revolutionary ways in which weight is distributed. Trucks have long been an integral part of the St Louis Community. To up the ante on performance, functional rocker protection has been added, and front and rear bumpers have been modified for a better success rate in the clearance zone. Widely acclaimed for front and rear electronic locking differentials, diesel engine option, and the first off-road application of Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve damper technology, the ZR2 has also turned many other heads in the auto critique business. St Louis Winter Weather Update: Driving and Preparedness Tips From Chevy

We have definitely been getting hit with a bit of inclement weather over the last few weeks, and have seen temperatures in the single digits, with ice and snow frequently on agenda. Just about everyone in St Louis may already be ready for spring, but we, unfortunately, are still stuck in the season where the sound of shovels and ice scrapers is still common. Chevy's pressroom had some great winter driving tips online this month that we wanted to share with you, to make sure that you arrive at your destination safely when the fresh powder begins to pile up!  

Always be conscious of fuel levels: When the temperatures are dipping this low, always keep your gas tank at least half full, and a full charge on your phone. If you know the temperature is going to drop below 20 degrees, make sure you have at least half a tank full at all times.

Catch up on maintenance: Have a very trusted mechanic do any required scheduled service, and make sure it includes the battery, tires, lights, wiper blades, and other critical parts that will be put to the test during storms. Pay close attention to tire pressure, as it can drop when temperatures do.

Check into winter tires: The addition of winter tires can provide additional needed traction in snow and ice, even for vehicles with 4-wheel and all-wheel drive. If you know that you will have to be driving regularly in less-than-safe weather, it could be one of your best investments of the year.

Feel comfortable with your vehicle: This is a good time to review the sections of your owner's manual that goes over antilock brakes, the traction control, and 4 or all-wheel drive, to make sure you are comfortable with the way they all operate. Be well-stocked: It's a good idea to carry a snow shovel and material like sand or cat litter to help if you become completely stuck. Having extreme cold weather clothing and an emergency blanket on hand can be critical if you become suddenly stuck.

Climbing up hills: If you have to get up a steep hill during snowy conditions, it is so very important to leave enough room in front of you. Maritain a very steady momentum, and don't just stop abruptly during your climb. This can be a scary feat to accomplish, but stay focused and keep climbing steadily, without bouts of extreme acceleration.

Changing Lanes: If you need to change lanes, you may want to look out for patches of snow-covered pavement that come up quickly. When a portion of the pavement is covered with snow, it could be a section that will provide you with more traction to steer. During Matt's drive in the Tahoe, he did encounter a snowstorm, and many around him were stressed with the roadway travel. Had he been trying to tackle it in a sedan, he would have been worried, but he said that he rivaled moxie. Also possessing towing abilities of up to 8.600 pounds, the Tahoe will be your best in show when the lake days come around again: boats and jet skis on their way up to the Ozarks will definitely be pulled along with ease!
