A recent addition to the 2015 Chevrolet Impala will net drivers an extra MPG in the city -- and as with today's environmental issues, every little bit helps.
A standard stop/start function has been added to the 2015 Impala's base 196-hp, 2.5-liter inline-four engine, meaning the Impala now boasts a fuel economy of 22/31 MPG (city/highway).
The change also brings a smoother start/stop to the 2015 Impala. Tuning the car's engine mounts to reduce shudder when the engine restarts, engineers birthed a heavy-duty starter motor and designed an algorithm that requires the car travels at 6 mph between engine shutdowns. This means that drivers can say goodbye to frequent starts and stops in heavy traffic!
The change continues Chevrolet's improvement of recent models, as the company added a stop/start feature to 2014 Malibu sedan.
