Customer Spotlight- Mike and Cheryl Johnson

Mike Johnson and Cheryl Johnson both grew up in St. Louis. Mike owns Pole Position Raceway, as well as manages a Chevy Racing Team and Cheryl runs Johnson Realty. They have two children, a boy and girl.

Mike's Dad got him started in racing back when he was a kid. He owned Duke Food Manufacturing and was an enthusiastic golfer. Eventually his dad got bored with golf and decided to get into racing. Team Duke started racing in an SCCA club league, then eventually moved up. Mike of course, took notes and soon was working on the race team himself. When he turned 18, it was time to start his own team and start racing his way up through the various racing leagues. Mike stopped racing around 2001, but has achieved a lot with his post-racing teams such as winning the 24 hrs. LeMans and the Grand Am Championship. Mike wanted something to occupy his time during the off-season so he ventured into owning Pole Position Raceway in St. Louis. The technology that makes managing a team nowadays lets Mike manage the teams from a distance during the week, manage his business closely and then he travels to the track each weekend. March 18, 2014 will mark the 1 year anniversary of Pole Position and their partnership with Jim Butler Chevrolet. Anytime you step into the showroom at any Jim Butler location, stop by the cashier's desk to get a $5 Off coupon on your next race at Pole Position.

Mike's car, is currently a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche with the full on Pole Position/Jim Butler Chevrolet graphics. His favorite part about the vehicle is the remote start. Being on the go, and travel all the time, Mike can start his car from his phone when he is on the shuttle back to his car at the airport or just getting ready at home. It makes things extremely convenient, and has made him think twice about buying any other brand of vehicle.

Get Winter Weather Ready With A Few Tips

Getting ready for winter weather seems like a simple task, but to be really prepared takes a lot more time than you would think.

During the winter months in St. Louis, there are a lot of weather changes, and hazards including; precipitation, snow, ice and sub-freezing temperatures. All of these can affect your vehicle and you in many different ways.

Before you start tackling winter roads make sure your vehicle is prepared for whatever may come your way, even the unexpected.

Top Tips For Getting Winter Ready

  1. Get your battery checked, charged (if needed) and most importantly get your electrical system tested.
  2. A brake check should be done just about every season for vehicles with older drum braking systems on the rear, and disc brakes systems just need to be inspected.
  3. Tires should be checked for cracks and wear. Having a tire blowout while stuck in the snow or cold is dangerous in many ways. If you live in an area that gets temperatures lower than -7 degrees, you should probably look into buying snow tires.
  4. Check your exhaust system for leaks, an exhaust leak increases your  risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  5. Have your mechanic test your anti-freeze to make sure that it is rated for the coldest temperatures.
  6. It's a a good idea to replace your windshield wipers every year before winter begins or purchase winter rated windshield wipers. They tend to hold up a little better during the colder temperatures and usually have a guard that keeps them from freezing to the windshield on those cold mornings.

Your local GM Certified Service Dealer can perform these inspections for you and recommend any other necessary service work.
