Chevrolet Models Rank in Top 2 Spots for Google’s Most Searched of 2015

Two other Chevrolet models crack Top 10 as Chevrolet is most searched car brand of the year

For Chevrolet, 2015 was a whirlwind year. Not only did the popularity rise and awards flood in including a sweep of Motor Trend’s vehicles of the year awards, but Chevy was the highest searched automotive brand of the year on Google.

Google trends released its search results for 2015 in every category from automotive to sports, from politics to questions about dogs. In the car models trends, Chevrolet took spots 1, 2, 4 and 8. The top two spots belonged to the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado at 1 and 2 respectively. Spot No. 4 belonged to the new 2016 Camaro, while Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year the 2016 Colorado held the eighth position.

The only other brand to come close to Chevrolet’s four in Google’s Top 10 was FCA with two. With the new advances and variety available for 2015 for Chevrolet fans in St. Louis and across the country, it was only apt that Chevrolet turned up for so many searches.

“To see Chevrolet on top of trending car and truck model searches for 2015 further emphasizes that the product, design and technologies that make up our vehicles are resonating with consumers,” Paul Edwards, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, said.

A new hybrid variant in 2016 may have helped lead to the amount of searches for the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. General Motors estimates the new 2016 Malibu hybrid to get up to 48 mpg in the city. One of the big additions to many Chevrolet models in 2016 is the addition of Apple CarPlay and eventually Android Auto, and the 2016 Malibu is no exception.

The Camaro and Colorado’s Car of the Year and Truck of the Year from Motor Trend were certainly deserved, and awards such as these probably played a big role in the searches. Naturally, when someone hears about such high profile awards, the research follows. The Silverado is still one of the most popular vehicles period, and it’s no surprise that it would make the list this high up.

The No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri, Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, is also the No. 1 Silverado dealer in St. Louis! Is Your Car Ready for Winter in St. Louis?

Now that the weather is turning colder in the St. Louis area, it's a good time to prepare your car for a long, cold winter. But if you're not the handy type, where do you start?

Mike Simms, service manager at Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, offers tips to keep your car operating safely, so you don't end up on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.

Jim Butler Winter Car Care Tips:

•    Keep a roadside emergency kit in your trunk. If you get stranded or stuck, you’ll be glad you have these helpful items with you: flashlight, blanket, small shovel, gloves, coolant, window washer fluid.
•     Check your battery. When the temperature drops, so does battery power. And a cold engine needs more battery power to start. That's why older batteries often fail in cold weather. Unless you have a new battery, you should have it tested. Bring your car in and we'll do this for free.
•    Check the antifreeze. Coolant expands when it freezes, and that's bad because it can damage your engine. Make sure you refill with antifreeze that can withstand winter temps. For older cars, we recommend flushing out the old coolant. If you're not sure where to put the coolant, don't take a guess ... just bring your car in and we’ll point it out for you and fill it up for free.
•    Fill up on windshield washer fluid. This is critical if you’re driving in low visibility such as a snowstorm, ice storm or fog. A dirty windshield reduces visibility even more. Check your owner's manual to find out the right type of fluid for your car.
•    Check wipers. Winter is a good time to replace your wipers since we get a fair amount of snow and ice in St. Louis. This should be done every year. If the rubber on the blades are torn, or if the wipers leave streak marks on your windshield, they should definitely be replaced. Stop by our service center if you have any trouble putting on new wipers … we’ll help out free of charge.
•    Inspect your tires. "Bad" tires have worn treads, uneven wear, or degraded rubber.  Cracking or dry rot on the rim is also a bad sign. Worn out tires can't handle slick or icy roads well and that's why its dangerous to drive on old tires.
•    Check your tire pressure. Tire pressure drops when the temperature drops, and having too little air in your tires makes them less able to grip wet or icy roads. Low tire pressure also decreases fuel efficiency and causes the tires to wear out faster. To find the proper pressure for your car, look for the PSI printed on the door jam. Use a tire pressure gauge (we like electronic gauges) to check air pressure and fill as needed.

2016 Chevrolet Models Win Nearly A Dozen Awards in One Week

Coveted Motor Trend Car and Truck of the Year, Green Car of the Year among awards earned by Chevy

Chevrolet had quite the whirlwind week in mid-November in terms of awards. According to Automotive News, Chevrolet took home 12 awards in the span of seven days, quite possibly the most ever in one week for the brand. These award winners can be found at or on their way to Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, another award-winner as the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri!

Camaro, Colorado Win Top Honors

Two of the most prized awards in the automotive industry were both won by two different Chevy vehicles with changes for the 2016 model year.

The most advanced Camaro ever, the 2016 Camaro, won Motor Trend’s 2016 Car of the Year. Chevy’s muscle car beat out models such as the BMW 7 series, Audi TT, Honda Civic and Mazda MX-5 Miata. Motor Trend summed up the Camaro’s impressive performance with “one of the finest driving vehicles in the world at any price.”

For Motor Trend’s 2016 Truck of the Year, it was a repeat for the Chevrolet Colorado. This compact truck added an all-new 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine to top the other five finalists. Towing, payload, handling, driving — it didn’t matter when it came to the 2016 Colorado. The engineers at Chevy almost managed to make the 2016 Colorado the most fuel-efficient pickup truck in America with up to 31 mpg on the highway.

2016 Volt Named Green Car of the Year, KBB winner

The 2016 Chevrolet Volt was given the honors of Green Car of the Year from Green Car Journal at the recent LA Auto Show. Judges were impressed with the 2016 Volt’s sleek design, energy-dense batteries, new electric motors and quicker acceleration. The new Volt beat out hybrid competition such as the Toyota Prius and Audi A3 E-Tron. This marks the second Green Car of the Year award for the Volt, winning previously in 2011.

The same features that impressed the Green Car Journal editors were found favorable with Kelley Blue Book (KBB). The 2016 Volt also won the KBB Best Buy Award for the Electric/Hybrid category.

Chevrolet mainstays get recognition

KBB wasn’t finished dishing out the hardware to Chevrolet just yet. The 2016 Tahoe topped the Full-Size SUV/Crossover segment for a second straight year; KBB cited its style, comfort and economy. The 2016 Corvette was named KBB’s 2016 Sports/Performance Car Best Buy Award Winner, and Chevy’s performance coupe also won the AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Sports Car of the Year beating out the Dodge Viper ACR and Jaguar F-Type R coupe among other big names.

The 2016 Impala wasn’t without its fair share. KBB was impressed by its technology, roominess and affordability. The full-size sedan won KBB’s 2016 Full-Size Car Best Buy award.

What an impressive week for Chevrolet! Come check out each of these award winners at Jim Butler Chevrolet, the No. 1 Chevrolet dealership in the state of Missouri. To learn more about your favorite 2016 award winner, call us at 636-349-3222, or you can set up a test drive by contacting us online.

Chevy Colorado Repeats as Motor Trend Truck of the Year

New diesel variant takes home top honors with engineering excellence and America’s best efficiency

Chevrolet followed up a huge award with a repeat as the 2016 Chevy Colorado was named the 2016 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. The new 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine set it apart from the competition, and the judges at Motor Trend gave its Truck of the Year honors to the Colorado mid-size pickup.

Motor Trend tested the latest trucks that many makes had to offer, and the Colorado impressed so much that it repeated as champion. In Motor Trend’s own test, the mpgs of the Colorado were the most fuel-efficient midsize truck on the market. With up to 31 mpg on the highway (FWD models), the Duramax-equipped Colorado trounced its competition.

Even as an AWD model, the 2016 Colorado diesel still ranked a hair over 29 mpg on the highway, so if you like taken the road less traveled, you can still get the efficiency you want even with an AWD Colorado. According to Motor Trend, the gasoline engines on the 2016 Colorado (2.5-L I4 and 3.6-L V6) also offer class-leading fuel economy.

Towing a 7,600-pound trailer, the Colorado managed a quarter-mile time in 23.4 seconds in Motor Trend’s evaluations. Chevrolet claims the 2016 Colorado can tow up to 7,700 pounds with the available trailer towing package. This pickup may be smaller than a Silverado, but it can live up to the challenge.

Motor Trend called the 2016 Colorado’s styling “sporty and handsome yet underrated.” What stood out to the editors at Motor Trend was both the design and function of the Colorado. The cabin is set up in a way that key knobs and dials are within an arm’s reach.

All of this made the 2016 Colorado Motor Trend’s 2016 Truck of the Year, the second straight for the Chevy Colorado.

2016 Colorado also wins AutoGuide.com’s Truck of the Year

The Colorado might want to add some more room to the trophy shelf. The 2016 Colorado diesel was also named AutoGuide.com Reader’s Choice Truck of the Year.

“Power from this diesel engine is fantastic,” Stephen Elmer, AutoGuide.com‘s truck expert, said. “With all of the torque coming on at just 2,000 rpm, this little engine pulls with confidence and strength.”

It’s time to think about an award-winner for your next truck. At Jim Butler Chevrolet, the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri, we have the 2016 Colorado in-stock near St. Louis! St. Louis Electric Car Fans Get Glimpse of Chevy Bolt Interior in Latest Spy Shots

Large screen, digital display among key features in Chevrolet’s planned EV hatchback

Back in February, Chevrolet announced its plans to build an all-electric EV car to boost its lineup. Looking to “shake up the status quo” on electric vehicles, Chevy put the Bolt on its production list. More than half a year later, the Bolt has been spied inside and out during test runs, and the hatchback looks to be all that was promised and more.

Photo by KGP Photography, courtesy of AutoBlog
Taking cues from the Sonic and newly-designed Volt, the Bolt will please both hatchback fans and green car enthusiasts. The front end appears to have some slight changes from the concept including three circular headlights on each side and a wider grille.

Inside, the tested Bolt’s dash set-up is streamlined yet tech-intensive. The displays look larger than what is offered in the Volt. Intriguing is the central display. In the spy shots, different software than the usual MyLink system is running. Whether this is a new update to MyLink or an entirely new feature remains to be seen. It’s always a possibility to that they are disguising the MyLink system to throw off spy photographers.

The shifter is certainly a point of interest on the new Chevy Bolt. A park button rests by what would be the driver’s thumb, and the trigger could help the driver switch between drive and reverse. It is comparable to shifters on some luxury makes and would add some class to Chevrolet’s electric car if the prototype is unchanged.

The Bolt is expected to go on sale some time in 2016 as a 2017 model year in all 50 states, and that includes Missouri’s No. 1 Chevrolet dealer, Jim Butler Chevrolet!

Chevrolet SS Offers Underrated Gem for St. Louis Performance Car Fans

Well thought-out interior, V8 engine makes muscle car that adds sophistication to Chevy lineup

When one brings up Chevrolet and muscle cars and performance cars, it’s safe to say that one’s mind will immediately shift to a Camaro or Corvette — and rightly so. These two coupes have delighted Chevy fans for decades. However, one Chevy model manages to take the power of the 6.2-liter V8 and the class of an Impala to create the SS, an underestimated vehicle in Chevrolet’s garage.

Updates for the SS make it as close to a four-door Corvette as St. Louis Chevrolet fans will get. For a V8 enthusiast who loves a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive who still needs to drive the kids around, it doesn’t get much better than an SS.

Stylish interior

Chevrolet’s care and attention is evident once you’re behind the wheel of an SS. Premium materials and fully loaded equipment can be appreciated from any seat. The 4G LTE wifi connectivity is available on the SS, and the MyLink infotainment system offers functionality just like any other Chevrolet vehicle with it.

The Chevy SS offers more headroom and legroom than the competition’s performance sedans. A superb ride is comfortable thanks to an upgraded suspension set-up. Brembo brakes are standard. Chevrolet has even gone as far as to put the SS in the same class as the BMW 5 series, and Jim Butler Chevrolet would agree!

Powerful sedan

The V8 is certainly the biggest engine in a Chevrolet sedan to date, and those who own and drive the SS will understand. The SS harkens back to the days when the family sedan would have roaring V8s under the hood. The 6.2-liter V8 outputs 415 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque.

The SS makes the perfect vehicle choice for a performance enthusiast who also needs a sedan. Chevrolet’s 2015 SS makes a good compromise between cars found on the racetrack and those that are found on the grocery store parking lot. No matter why you buy an SS, one thing’s for sure — you’ll be driving one of the most sophisticated V8s around.

To learn more about the 2015 Chevy SS near St. Louis, call Jim Butler Chevrolet today at 888-640-6826 or contact us online. As your St. Louis Chevrolet dealer, we invite you to check out the SS in person at our Fenton dealership. Chevy Corvette Trumps Porsche 911 in J.D. Power Satisfaction Survey

Chevrolet nameplate beats out perennial winner Porsche according to new car owners

After a decade-long drought, the Chevrolet Corvette won the Midsize Premium Sporty Car category topping the Porsche dynasty. More than 84,000 people total were surveyed this summer by J.D. Power, and when the results were tallied, the premium sports car crowd loved the Corvette.

Chevrolet went through years of fine-tuning and testing to make the seventh-generation Corvette what it is today. Aspects of the Corvette that propelled it past the 911 include the handling, acceleration, fuel economy and audio system. Believe it or not, storage was also a key factor.

“Interestingly, storage was also an advantage vs. the competition in this segment — with owners citing more trunk space,” J.D. Power said in its evaluation.

2016 Corvette: More than Just Numbers

St. Louis sport cars fans can find more than just power behind the wheel of a Corvette. Whether you choose the classic Stingray or the high-flying Corvette Z06, St. Louis Corvette owners know they’re getting more for the money at Jim Butler Chevrolet.

With a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, the 2016 Corvette Z06 delivers 650 horsepower and lb.-ft. of torque. On the track, the Z06 performed with a 0-to-60 time of 2.95 seconds. In fact, the Z06 share many components with the same C7.R racers Chevrolet uses. The Corvette Z06 has a carbon fiber hood and roof, hydroformed aluminum fram and adjustable rear spoiler wickerbill.

The 2016 Corvette Stingray is the next step in the line of the iconic American sports car. The V8 pounds out up to 460 horsepower, and fuel efficiency on the highway is an EPA-estimated 29 mpg, so you can go further in a Stingray! Available Competition Sport seats, the light and rigid frame and defiant design make the 2016 Stingray a sight to behold.

Corvette owners know a good ‘vette when they see one, and Jim Butler Chevrolet is your St. Louis Corvette dealer! As the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri, we know Chevys, and you’ll get the Butler service we’re known for when purchasing and servicing your new 2016 Corvette in St. Louis.

An Ideal Match: 3 Chevy Models Win Ideal Vehicle Awards in 3 Different Categories

A Chevy of every size takes home awards that signify meeting owners’ expectations

After AutoPacifca reviewed more than 66,000 surveys of new-car owners for 2015 model years, three Chevrolet models emerged victorious in their respective categories in the Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVA). The 2015 Impala tied for best Large Car, the 2015 Colorado was the top Compact Pickup, and the Chevy-staple Suburban topped the Large SUV Category.

What’s more impressive is that each Chevy winner is a different size and style of vehicle. This shows that across the board, new Chevrolets from Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, satisfy and meet the expectations of their owners. Whether it’s a family needed the size and power of a Suburban, a pickup fan wanting an award-winning Colorado or a large-sedan enthusiast, Chevrolet offers award-winning vehicles of all bodies and sizes.

2015 Chevy Impala: Ideal Large Car (tie)

The 2015 Impala tied for the most Ideal Large Car in AutoPacifica’s research. With an exterior that look not look out of place on a luxury sedan and an exquisite interior with available wood grain, chrome accents and French stitching, the Impala looks handsome inside and out. Under the hood, the Impala is powered by either a classic V6 or ECOTEC 4-cylinder. This is the second year in a row the Impala has won the IVA for large cars.

2015 Chevy Colorado: Ideal Compact Pickup

The Colorado was named Motor Trend’s Truck of the year, and for good reason. With ingenious technology combined with great efficiency, safety and versatility, the Colorado is the fastest-growing midsize pickup for 2015. No wonder owners fell in love as it was rated No. 1 in compact pickups in AutoPacifica’s rakings.

2015 Chevy Suburban: Ideal Large SUV

Duramax Diesel Announced for 2016 Chevy Colorado

Turbo-diesel adds to capability and efficiency of award-winning midsize pickup truck

For the upcoming model year, one of the most popular pickup trucks on the market will offer a turbo diesel engine. The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado will be made available with a 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel, a new engine for Chevrolet.

Along with being the cleanest diesel truck engine produced by General Motors, the new 2.8-L Duramax increases the maximum trailering capacity to 7,700 pounds. It will be offered in LT and Z71 trims in either 2WD or 4WD.

About the 2.8-L Duramax Turbo Diesel

The Duramax on the 2016 Colorado is measured at 181 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque. According to Chevrolet, a broad torque band makes it very powerful at low rpm, while the turbocharged performance provides a confident feeling of immediate and smooth horsepower on demand.

“A diesel engine was part of the Colorado’s portfolio plan from the very beginning, meaning the chassis, suspension and other elements of its architecture were engineered to support its capability,” Scott Yackley, assistant chief engineer, said. “That means there are no compromises with the Colorado diesel. It offers exceptional capability delivered with a confident feeling of control.”

The special features included with or exclusive to 2016 Colorados with the Duramax turbo-diesel are:

—Smart diesel exhaust brake system that enhances vehicle control and reduces brake wear on steep grades
—Standard Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission matched with a Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber (CPVA) in the torque converter, which reduces powertrain noise and vibration
—An all-new integrated trailer brake controller is standard and exclusive on diesel models
—A 3.42 rear axle ratio is standard
—Maximum trailering rating of 7,700 pounds for 2WD models and 7,600 pounds for 4WD
—GVWRs of 6,000 pounds for 2WD and 6,200 pounds for 4WD.

New Chevy Mid-size CUV Targeted for Late 2017 Sale Date

Latest Chevrolet offering will slot in size between Traverse and Equinox

As the Crossover SUV market continues to gain steam, Chevrolet’s latest plan will give St. Louis Chevy fans and CUV fans more offerings and variety. Chevy plans to add another CUV to its current line-up by the second half of 2017 and, in the process, make the Equinox slightly smaller.

By the end of 2017, Chevrolet’s tentative CUV line-up will be, in order from smallest to largest:

—Trax
The Equinox will see a reduction in size by the end of 2017.
—Equinox
—New Vehicle
—Traverse

The Traverse is also scheduled for a re-design in 2017, and Chevrolet’s newest CUV will also be a three-row offering. No name or powertrain specifications are being announced at this time for the new crossover.

Chevrolet would become one of the few automakers to offer four differently-sized CUVs, giving the consumer greater choice. This allows the bowtie brand to rival any other brand, foreign or domestic, when it comes to crossover offerings.

The size of the new Chevy CUV would compare to that of the Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe Nissan Murano. Those fans in St. Louis looking for a medium-sized, three-row CUV with the Chevrolet name and quality should stay tuned to our blog network for more information.

No matter when the new CUVs hits dealers, you can be sure that Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, will offer you the best service and deals on it!

So Cool: Active Phone Cooling Adds to 2016 Chevrolet Models’ Smartphone Integration

Latest Advancements in Impala, Volt, Malibu, Cruze Help Combat Overheating Smartphones

Overheating Smartphones is a problem that is reoccurring more and more often these days. This can cause large inconveniences for travelers who rely on their smartphones for phone calls, streaming music or navigation. The newest technology from Chevrolet and its 2016 models look to help
smartphone users and their overheating problems.

While occasional smartphone overheating is normal, the overheating can cause negative effects such as low battery life and slow processing speeds.

To help aid these inconveniences, several new Chevrolet models, including the 2016 Malibu and Impala, will be equipped with industry-first technology that will cool your smartphone — just another advancing step forward towards Chevrolet’s smartphone integration.

Active Phone Cooling and how it works

Chevrolet has created a system called Active Phone Cooling. Inside the wireless charging bin, there will be an air vent connected to the car’s air conditioning and ventilation system that will easily cool the phone. Active Phone Cooling operates only when the HVAC system is turned on by the driver.

Overheating can be because by many factors such as heavy strain on the device’s data and graphics processors, high ambient temperatures or simply charging the device. Couple this with hot temperatures inside the car on a very warm day, and overheating can occur even easier.

Chevrolet models expected to have the Active Phone Cooling features currently include the 2016 Impala, Cruze, Volt and Malibu. Now, customers can enjoy the convenience of cool air being sent right to where their phone will already be charging.

"Over time, regular overheating can do permanent damage to the lithium ion batteries that power our smartphones,” Jeffrey Van Camp, deputy editor of Digital Trends, said. “I always recommend keeping your phone in a cool, ventilated place, where it can stay at a comfortable room temperature, whether it's charging or discharging.”

Chevrolet is the only automotive manufacturer that offers a similar solution for in-vehicle smartphone cooling, so keep your smartphone protected with your 2016 Chevrolet models.

Four Jim Butler Chevrolet Models Earn Top Rank in J.D. Power Quality Study

Chevrolet has 10 vehicles in Top 3 positions, more than any other make

Four different vehicles at Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, earned the top spot in their respective segments and categories in the J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) for 2015.

The winners for their segments include the iconic Malibu, the family-focused Equinox, the durable Silverado light duty (LD) and the affordable Spark.

“We are constantly challenging ourselves to bring to market the highest-quality products for our customers, regardless of the type of vehicle they purchase,” Alan Batey, global Chevrolet president, said. “Quality studies like this one tell us we are moving in the right direction.”

J.D. Power’s IQS consists of data and surveys from more than 85,000 owners of new 2015 vehicles throughout the first 90 days of purchase. A 233-question study and survey gives manufacturers the critical information they need to improve their vehicles.

Each of these award-winning vehicles at Jim Butler Chevrolet meets the needs of each of their segments’ fans. The zippy Spark is the most affordable hatchback in America, and it makes a great car for a new college student or graduate living on their own for the first time.

The Equinox is Chevy’s entry into the competitive CUV market, and fans are starting to take notice. The Equinox saw a 30-percent rise in sales from May 2014. With accolades such as these, it’s no wonder St. Louis families are taking them home off the lots.

Since 1964, the Malibu continues to delight and improve among mid-size car fans. The Malibu has seen an increase in sales of 11 percent since this time last year. The Silverado LD has seen its sales numbers jump 12 percent, and for good reason. As a durable, dependable and powerful pickup, anyone can see why Jim Butler Chevrolet is the No. 1 Silverado dealer in St. Louis!

Jim Butler Chevrolet can throw around the term “GM-certified” all it wants. But what exactly does that mean for new owners of a Buick, Cadillac or GMC from Jim Butler Chevrolet?

The GM-certified vehicles at Jim Butler Chevrolet must meet a rigorous list of requirements and undergo in-depth inspections and standards to get the seal of approval. The GM-certified program uses a thorough 172-point Inspection and Reconditioning Process. Expert technicians check all areas of the vehicle including the engine, chassis and body.

“The technicians ensure that everything from the drivetrain to the windshield wipers is in good working order, or they recondition it to our exacting standards,” according to General Motors. “The vehicles are road-tested, put up on a lift for a complete underbody and frame inspection, and then completely checked for any cosmetic flaws.”

Butler-backed Guarantee

What sets apart buying a GM-certified vehicle from Jim Butler Chevrolet versus another St. Louis dealer is our own guarantee on top of GM’s.

2016 Chevrolet Models Offer Google and Apple Smartphone Integration

Chevy becomes first brand to roll out both platforms across a broad range of models

After offering 4G LTE Wi-Fi on its 2015 models, Chevrolet announces its intent to continue setting the technology pace as it will offer both Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay on the majority of 2016 model year vehicles.

As more news about Chevy’s 2016 models such as the Malibu and Volt slowly unveil, this next step once again sets the benchmark for technology in vehicles and new cars at Jim Butler Chevrolet, Missouri’s No. 1 Chevy dealer. Touch screen systems in vehicles that act like smartphones are one of the top demands of consumers, and Chevrolet has answered the call.

“We believe that it is a key factor for customers and a reason for purchase,” GM’s Senior Vice President of Global Connect Customer Experience Alicia Boler-Davis said to AutoNews. “It is a differentiation.”

How the integration works

A driver’s smartphone plugs into the vehicle’s USB port to active either CarPlay or Android Auto. The usual Chevrolet MyLink system gives way to either CarPlay or Android Auto. The touchscreen will contain icons for the phone, maps, music players and other familiar features found on a smartphone.

Only functions that have been approved safe for use in moving vehicles will be allowed, and many of the applications will be operated through voice command. Some, however, will still be used with the touchscreen. One such example is reading aloud of incoming text messages but not displaying them so the driver can keep his or her eyes on the road.

The integration capability will work with any 2016 models with the available MyLink infotainment system. A move like this will not only delight Chevy owners who enjoy a vehicle with good technology but also may draw more customers into the Chevrolet brand. For those on either side, Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO, is ready to help you with your new Chevy purchase and service!

Models with CarPlay and Android Auto

Thus far, General Motors has divulged that the following models will make the smartphone integration available for 2016:

—Cruze
—Malibu
—Silverado
—Silverado HD
—Spark
—Camaro
—Corvette
—Volt
—Impala
—Colorado
—Tahoe
—Suburban

2015 Sonic Awarded Top Safety Pick by IIHS with ‘Good’ Rating

Wide selection of Chevy subcompacts available at Jim Butler Chevrolet in Fenton, MO

The midyear 2015 Sonic earned a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety after earning a good rating — the highest mark in IIHS’s tests — in the Small Overlap Front Crash Protection Test.

Changes in the Sonic’s front-end structure, door sill and door pillar attributed to the subcompact’s good rating. The Sonic also achieved good ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint evaluations.

“With good ratings across the board in all five IIHS crashworthiness evaluations, the improved Sonic delivers a high level of protection among small cars in the most common kinds of crashes,” IIHS President Adrian Lund said.

Sonic’s safety standards

The Sonic has the edge in the subcompact class when it comes to safety and airbags. It’s the only one to feature 10 standard airbags, including knee air bags for the driver and front passenger. The number of airbags deployed is measure by sensors throughout the 2015 Chevy Sonic in the event of a collision.

However, the Chevrolet Sonic also takes active measures to help prevent unfortunate accidents. More than 60 percent of the Sonic’s body structure is comprised of advanced steel, and two major available safety features aid drivers.

Forward Collision Alert provides alerts to help the driver avoid crashing into a vehicle they are following that is moving or has come to a stop. It also lets the driver know if they are following a vehicle ahead much too closely. Lane Departure Warning provides alerts to help drivers avoid crashes due to unintentionally drifting out of their lane when their turn signal is not activated.

A rear-vision camera is also available along with OnStar’s available Directions and Connections plans, the Chevy Sonic is right in earning its Top Safety Pick from the IIHS. Available in both hatchback and sedan styles, you’ll find the subcompact car you’re looking for at Jim Butler Chevrolet, the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Missouri!

Six Ways a Chevy Truck Reduces Body Repair Costs

Technical aspects created to save time, effort, cost for St. Louis Silverado owners

Collisions are never a good occurrence, and the time, cost and hassle associated with fixing the damage can only add to the frustration. However, the new Chevy Silverado was designed to make the process and body shop visits less of a concern for the owner and for employees of Jim Butler Collision Center, a St. Louis body repair shop.

When the 2015 Chevy Silverado was in the design and production phase years ago, a technician’s view was taken into consideration to help make the pickup straightforward and easier to repair. The 2015 Silverado features six major reparability designs that help the repair process at Jim Butler Collision Center.

1 — Front Frame Rail Section

Just because it’s a minor impact doesn’t necessarily mean the repair bill should be major. Depending on the severity of the impact, technicians may be able to repair a leading section of the truck’s frame instead of replacing the entire chassis. If so, the damaged section can be cleanly cut away at a specific location, and a new service section — shipped fully assembled — can be welded in place.

2 — Structural Front Fenders

The entire assembly on the Chevy Silverado is more simply unbolted than a standard passenger vehicle. Instead of a repair technician drilling out welds, the front fenders of the 2015 Silverado incorporate both outer sheet metal and the supporting inner structure, and this saves time and effort on the technician’s part at Jim Butler Collision Center.

3 — Bond-On Body Panel Procedures

When it comes to replacing non-structural body panels such as outer roof panels or outer door panels, repair technicians at Jim Butler Collision Center can use an ultra-strong structural adhesive to bond the panels onto the vehicle. This helps avoid welding and possible corrosion issues later while also speeding up the repair time.

4 — Pre-prepared roof panels

Jim Butler Collision Center technicians can get replacement panels that essentially plug-and-play, thanks to pre-installed studs and pre-drilled holes for accessories.

5 — One-Piece Body Side Outers

If damage occurs to the outer panels of the Silverado’s cab, technicians can order a complete body side outer, shipped as a single, complete assembly, allowing them to cut and replace only the damaged area instead of the entire assembly. Chevy’s goal in this aspect is to have only weld seams where they are need.

6 — Flexible Bed Repair Options

If the pickup bed or outer bedside should ever be significantly damaged, St. Louis Silverado owners won’t necessarily need to purchase a new pickup box. Depending on the damage, the outer bedside or the bedside assembly can be replaced from the bed floor out. This saves you and the body shop money and time.

With a new 2015 Chevy Silverado from Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis, know that in the unfortunate event of a collision, Chevy has designed the Silverado to help cut the repair time and cost.
