Even More Midnight Editions Hitting Chevrolet's Lineup

Chevrolet has been on a roll lately, releasing special edition models of the most popular vehicles in their lineup. So far, Midnight Editions of the Silverado, Colorado, Equinox and Trax have been penned as Chevy’s fastest-selling special edition vehicles of today. The brand has now announced it will be expanding the specialty models to two vehicles that represent nearly 50 percent of all full-size SUVs in the US- the Tahoe and Suburban.

“Our SUV customers have shown a considerable appetite for specialty vehicles,” Mike Weidman, marketing and advertising manager, Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe. “The Midnight Editions allow us to further deliver on the premium expectation that our customers already have for these class-leading full-size SUVs.”

These Midnight Edition vehicles will be offered in two variants, which includes the Z71 Midnight package and the LT Midnight package. The Z71 Midnight will, of course, have all features included on the Z71 Package, such as the off-road tuned suspension, off-road tires, fog lamps, tow hooks and sill plates. The Midnight Edition will take it up a notch, by adding 18” all-black wheels, roof rack cross rails, black grille insert and black Chevy “bow ties”.

The LT Midnight will also include the features of the Suburban and Tahoe LT trim levels. It will add 20” black wheels, all-season tires, roof rack cross rails, black assist steps and the black Chevy “bow ties”.

Both of these vehicles should be released a little later this year. We’re loving all of these Midnight Edition vehicles, so we’re excited! Be sure to keep an eye out for their arrival to Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis, MO!

One-Pedal Driving Coming To The 2017 Bolt EV

General Motors has recently announced that the 2017 Bolt EV will offer the use regenerative braking, allowing for “one-pedal driving” and maximum total vehicle range. Not sure what this means? In a nutshell, regenerative braking gives this electric vehicle the ability to recapture significant amounts of energy and use it to recharge the battery. If the regenerative braking system is powerful enough, it can almost completely emit the need of using the brake pedal- therefore, we have one-pedal driving.

“Bolt EV customers who want an engaging driving experience will love the thrill of one-pedal driving,” stated Josh Tavel, Bolt EV Chief Engineer. “They will be able to tailor the vehicle to their preferred driving style and maximize their range.”

According to a test run by Chevrolet engineers, a whopping 5 percent of range can be added to the Bolt EV when using one-pedal driving. In a series of four modes, the driver can customize the experience to fit their needs. These modes include:
  • Operating in Drive and easing off the accelerator
  • Operating in Drive and using the Regen on Demand paddle on the back of the steering wheel
  • Operating in Low and easing off the accelerator
  • Operating in Low and using the Regen on Demand paddle in tandem
Each of these modes will provide various levels of regen braking. A Chevrolet press release states that number 1 provides the lowest level of regen braking and still requires the brake pedal to bring the Bolt to a stop. Numbers 2-4 are one-pedal driving modes that get progressively stronger. Using these modes in certain situations, the driver will be able to stop the vehicle without the use of the brake pedal.

Many electric vehicle enthusiasts are thrilled about this technology. Using regenerative braking, the Bolt EV can surpass its already 200+ miles of range… and that’s what it’s all about!

We’ll let you know when it arrives at Jim Butler Chevrolet in St. Louis!

Big Changes Coming To The 2017 Colorado

The Chevrolet Colorado, which was introduced into the market for the 2015 model year, has some big changes coming along with it this year! The 2017 Colorado will offer an all-new V-6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This update creates a midsize pickup that has no match in its segment.

“Customers made the Colorado an overnight success and it remains one of the industry’s hottest-selling products,” stated Anita Burke, Colorado chief engineer. “That fast success has justified our continued investment in midsize pickups, introducing new features for our customers such as the class-exclusive diesel engine, advanced technologies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and now a class-leading V-6 and eight-speed automatic powertrain combination.”

As the most fuel-efficient pickup in the nation, the Colorado has an EPA-estimated 31 mpg on the highway when running on the diesel engine (something all St. Louis commuters love). The new V-6 engine- which includes updated technologies and is paired with the eight-speed transmission- will lead to an overall improved driving experience- pulling harder when accelerating and offering a sophisticated ride when on the highway.

The Colorado has had tons of success and the numbers prove it. Chevrolet is on the path to sell over 160,000 models over the course of its first 24 months on the market. Additionally, the Colorado makes up an overall 23 percent of the midsize segment.

We know you’re going to want this one! The 2017 Colorado will be arriving to Jim Butler Chevrolet towards the end of this year! We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
