Chevrolet SS May Be Going Out With A Bang

Though it may simply be a rumor, we’ve been hearing that the Chevrolet SS could be going out with a bang. Entering its last year of production, the word on the street is that the 2017 SS may be getting a bit of an engine boost...and said engine is something most Camaro fanatics are familiar with.

A source that apparently spoke to GM Authority says that there have been “mumblings” around the Elizabeth assembly- which is the home of production for the Chevy SS and Holden Commodore. If you’re not aware, the Holden Commodore is basically the Australian version of the SS and, ironically enough, will be receiving a new engine before it also enters its last year of production… so, we’re not positive but there may be some truth behind these “mumblings”.

Interested in where the power will come from? The supercharged 6.2 LSA V8- adding 121 ponies, accumulating to 536 hp- this engine was used to power the Chevrolet Camaro from 2012 to 2015.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated! In the meantime, don’t hesitate to stop by your St. Louis dealer, Jim Butler Chevrolet to check out our current Chevy lineup.
