Winter Weather Driving Tips

Thanks to our good old friend Phil it looks like we have a few more weeks of winter in store! Chevrolet is here to keep you and your family safe when navigating wintery roads. St. Louis drivers can prepare for these conditions by following these simple tips:

1.    Prior to driving clear your car of snow and ice so you can see properly
2.     Ensure your tires and battery are in good shape
3.     Carry along kitty litter just in case you get stuck
4.     Don’t drive with bulky clothing to insure you have complete mobility
5.     Keep an appropriate pair of driving shoes in your vehicle so you can gauge how much pressure you are placing on your pedals
6.     Turn your heat down so you do not become drowsy
7.     Be aware of the outside temperature. The most dangerous temperature range is between 24-34 degrees.
8.     Be aware of your traction control! If you are on ice and snow you will have less traction, making it more difficult to stop at times. Slow it down, break early, and be aware of your surroundings.

Remember: If you do not have to drive, don’t! We also recommend you take your car in for service to make sure it is running like new for any weather that comes your way! Stop by Jim Butler Chevrolet and get your vehicle inspected today!
